Another big one day win came in on the 13th of October 2008. That was when Stephen’s joint trading account surged 39.3%. Yes, he scored close to a 40% gain–on his full trading account–in a single day. How did he do that?
Believe it or not, it happened in a period when most investors were panicking and selling. Because Stephen saw a huge opportunity, he boldly bet on the market rising and aggressively bought a large number of QQQQ call options; the tracking stock of the Nasdaq 100.
This bold move helped his account post a gain for the month, beating the market by 20.6%. This was the same month that US stocks suffered their worst monthly losses in 21 years. For example, the Nasdaq Composite plummeted 17.7%.
As well as correctly predicting the start of the powerful five year bull market that began in March 2003, he also correctly called the bear market that began Oct 2007, quickly moving into a cash based fund many months before the 24.7% market falls from Oct 07 to March 2008.
